Single Parents On The Town - About Us. Welcome to The S.P.O.T. My name is Tania and I’m one of the two founders of the S.P.O.T. Having been a single mum myself for over three years, I experienced, first hand, all the challenges and hurdles involved with being a single parent. In a nutshell, I found myself separated with a one year old amazing little guy, Gus, just one year after moving to Australia, with very little family, very little friends in the country, and no time to go out and socialize to make new friends.

Most nights, after Gus would go to bed, I would jump on the internet for a couple of hours on facebook and msn, chatting away to my friends. It was the next best thing to going out and socializing and made me feel not so alone. However, it didn’t change the fact that I was still not meeting any new people, especially any other single parents who I could relate to and who would have kids for gus to play with …

So with no spare time on my hands and unable to leave the house after Gus had gone to bed, it got me thinking… How am I going to meet other like-minded single parents I can relate to, right here from my own living room???.... How ideal and practical would it be if you could log on to a website, an online community of single parents, where you can browse and meet hundreds of other single parents all around Australia, chat to them online after the kids have gone to sleep, share stories, experiences and a few laughs and further the friendship by catching up face to face at kid friendly events…

So, Single Parents On The Town aka The S.P.O.T. was born!
